German Spy Museum ticket (Spionage)

Spy 2 Show more

Our exhibition takes visitors on a journey into the past, enabling them to trace the history of espionage from its roots in ancient times through the turmoil of World War Two and up to the Cold War heyday of the international spy.

Located in Berlin, the »Capital City of Spies«, our museum is ideally placed to retrace the ideological battle of this period, a story brought alive with a range of original artifacts plus many film props from the James Bond films. The museum also employs a range of high-tech media installations to make the visitor experience both informative and fun. We introduce visitors to a range of questions of contemporary relevance, focussing on data security, individual rights in the surveillance society and the ethics of modern domestic and international espionage.

The exhibition raises questions about data protection in the times of terrorism, social media and Big Data. Hundreds of rare exhibits enable the visitor to breathe the air of history: Hitler’s cipher machine »Enigma«, spy equipment such as a CIA key fob camera, shoe bugs, glove pistols, poisoned umbrellas and Stasi cameras. We also provide testimony from a range of former top spies.

This history of the second-oldest profession in the world is presented on cutting-edge technology: over 200 passive and active HD screens, unique multi-media applications,3D glasses and impressive projections draw the visitor into the cloak-and-dagger world of espionage. Visitors can decipher secret codes or try their luck on the laser maze. Interactive stations show how quickly a supposedly »safe« password can be cracked or how to hack into a website.
